Castello di Tolcinasco
Tolcinasco is one of the great golf machines of the Milan area
Tolcinasco is one of the great golf machines of the Milan area: broad, organised and multi-layered, with thirty-six holes and an infrastructure capable of supporting members, guests, academy activity and corporate days without losing rhythm. The historic castle gives the estate a clear visual identity, while the courses themselves combine contemporary parkland golf, strategic water and more subtle decision-making than the peri-urban setting might first suggest. It is a club that wins through efficiency and scale, but still offers enough technical nuance to satisfy more attentive players. Its proximity to Milan makes it an almost inevitable choice for business golf, yet reducing it to that would be unfair. Tolcinasco also works extremely well as a hub for golfers who want to play a lot in a short time with reliable comfort and services. For practical but demanding travellers, it remains one of northern Italy's smartest bases.
Sfrutta la sua natura di hub: se hai poco tempo ma vuoi giocare tanto, Tolcinasco è perfetto per una giornata intensa senza logistica dispersiva.

Abbazia di Chiaravalle — L'Ora dei Monaci
Just 7km from Milan, hidden within the Parco Agricolo Sud, the Cistercian Abbey of Chiaravalle was founded by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in 1135 and holds Lombardy's oldest bell tower. In the early morning, the monks allow access to the inner cloister during the 7:30am Prima Hora prayer for those who present themselves in silence.
“Knock on the side door before 7:20am and ask for Frate Marco. There is no phone number for this visit — you go and knock. If you bring a book on medieval art history, the conversation that follows makes the journey worthwhile.”
Cantina Frecciarossa — Pinot Nero di Cigognola
In the Oltrepò Pavese, the Odero family has cultivated Pinot Nero since 1908 on elevated clay soils producing one of Italy's most fascinating reds. The Giorgio Odero, their flagship cru, is the Italian Pinot Nero most often cited in comparisons with Burgundy.
“Giorgio Odero junior receives guests by appointment in the 19th-century frescoed villa hall. The visit includes tasting directly from the barrique — not the glass. He always brings out a bottle not in commerce for serious visitors.”
Naviglio Grande — L'Alba delle Conche
The Naviglio Grande, excavated from 1179 to carry Duomo marble from Lake Maggiore to Milan, is the only navigable waterway still reaching Milan's centre. At dawn, before the Navigli bars open, the canal is frequented by rowers, fishermen, and a few cyclists — a Milan suspended between countryside and city.
“The Officina dei Navigli at number 36 on the right bank is the last active wooden boat repair workshop on the canal. Owner Primo opens Saturday mornings 7–9am not for organised tours, but because he likes the company while he works.”
